We are seeking for a Finance Director for our company (NEC OncoImmunity AS): a financial hands-on professional with deep knowledge of both the Norwegian and international accounting systems who is motivated by overseeing and reliably carrying out multiple functions within our agile organization while interfacing with clear communication skills within a large global, Japanese-headquartered corporation.
This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with relevant regulations, and effective financial planning and analysis.
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of our organization, making this a highly responsible and strategic position within the corporate structure with great possibilities of further development inside our parent companies (i.e., NEC Bio and NEC Corporation as a whole).
Key responsibilities for the role:
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Ensure that all financial reports are accurate and completed on time
• Develop and manage the organization's budget
• Conduct financial forecasting to guide business planning and decision-making
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations, including tax laws and financial reporting standards
• Liaise with external auditors during audits and reviews
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets
• Assess and mitigate financial risks
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems
• Ensure that accounting processes are efficient and aligned with best practices
• Coordinate activities within the accounting department to ensure smooth operations
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management
• Contribute to strategic planning initiatives by providing financial expertise and analysis
• Support the development of long-term financial goals and objectives
Required skills and qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required
• Advanced degrees such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) are a plus
• Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Accountant (CA) are highly valued
• Several years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, previous roles in supervisory or managerial positions
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, including senior management, auditors, and regulatory authorities
The position is a full time position in Oslo, Norway, with a wish of a regular in-office presence on a weekly basis (partial home office possible up to 40%)
