Become Statnett's new Technical Manager Platform Design!

Statnett works with the most important infrastructure in Norway and plays a central role in transforming the energy sector into a low-emission future. The large-scale development of offshore wind is considered to be an enabler for achieving Europe's climate goals.

Statnett prepares to take a major role in developing offshore networks to integrate offshore wind power. HVDC technology is expected to play a major role in developing this network in the form of radial connections and hybrid links – and in the long term, interconnected networks between Norway and other countries around the North Sea.

As our Technical Manager Platform Design, you will have the opportunity to be involved from the early concept phase of offshore network projects through contracting and the construction phase, including preparations for the operational phase.

The position is in the Technology Development Station section, within the Technology Development department under the Technology and Transformation business area. The section is responsible for technology development, introduction of new technology and standardization. Technology Development has a strong interdisciplinary competence and is responsible for HVDC and FACTS facilities (primarily SVC and STATCOM). The section will also be responsible for offshore HVDC and HVAC platforms. As Technical Manager Platform Design, you will primarily be part of the technical team in our project portfolio for the offshore grid, including responsibility for the structural part of specifications, technical solutions and technology implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Manager for platform design (Hybrid platform project) managing all structural aspects in specifications, procurement, construction/installation, testing and commissioning. This includes contributing to the follow-up of EPC construction contracts with external suppliers.

  • Develop a Hybrid HVDC offshore platform design adapted and optimized for Norwegian conditions.

  • Prepare plans for the implementation of engineering activities.

  • Prepare and specify functional requirements for offshore HVDC platforms.

  • Establish engineering and numbering systems for the development of a hybrid platform.

  • Resource/competence planning for engineering activities.

  • Initialize and follow up on relevant studies.

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in structural engineering, marine structures, process, mechanical, electrical, or equivalent. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education.

  • Extensive experience in platform design, concept phase and FEED studies, engineering, contracting, and construction phases.

  • Knowledge of platform auxiliary systems and necessary facilities.

  • Experience with procurement and contracts.

  • Experience with structural calculations for fixed or floating offshore structures.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably Norwegian.

Personal qualities

  • Good collaboration skills.

  • Good analytical skills, structured working style, and sense of responsibility.

  • Good negotiation skills.

  • Ability to handle and solve complex problems.

We offer

  • Challenging and exciting tasks where you follow the project from A to Z.

  • A strong interdisciplinary technical environment and good development opportunities.

  • Good pension and insurance schemes.

  • Flexible working conditions.

Why should you work at Statnett?

  • We prioritize health, environment, and safety above all.

  • We manage the most important infrastructure in Norway.

  • We facilitate internal career paths and competence development for our employees.

  • We are committed to ensuring a good work-life balance for all our employees.

  • To promote diversity and variation among our over 1500 employees, we welcome applicants regardless of ethnic background, gender and age.
